Computer Connection Integrity
Many computer and sensor connectors can be checked for a good connection when there is approximately a
.003" interference fit between the connector and the component pins. There are four common types of male pins:
the spade type, the round solid type, the square solid type and the round hollow expanding type.

Inspect the male pins for bending or being pushed back. Make sure the female pins are not pushed back. The
female pins have been known to loose their ability to grip or hold the male pin tightly. The round female con-
nectors may be checked by inserting a new drill shank to determine if there is a slight drag.

Examples:
• Ford 60 pin computer connector #49 drill
• Chrysler 60 pin computer connector #53 drill
• Chrysler 8 pin solenoid connector #43 drill

NOTE: For computers or components not listed, measure the male

NOTE: pin and select a drill .002" -.003" smaller to test the female pin.
