Binds in Park
A binding condition in ‘Park’ (it feels like the transmission is in gear) is usually caused by a manual control
valve that is out of position. If the manual control valve is allowed to move beyond the ‘Park’ position it will
apply the forward clutch.

Use the following procedure to check the manual valve position:

Step 1 Put the shifter lever in the D2 position.

The manual control


valve should wiggle
approzimately .010”
below flush to .020”
above flush at the
first land. If not, bend
the ‘z’ link.

Step 2 Move the shift lever to the ‘Park’ position. Distance ‘A’ should be .490"-.500". If not, bend the rooster
Step 2 comb stop.

Distance ‘A’

Bend the rooster comb


stop to achieve .490”-.500”
for distance ‘A’.
