P16 G2 Gotchas 2/2
• P16 G2 power adapter support: • UP-mode has Dynamic Boost enabled by default. P-mode has Whisper Mode
– Intel UHD, Intel Arc DG2, NV RTX A1000/2000 Ada = 170W enabled by default. Available via RTX Experience app.
– NV RTX 35/4/5 Ada = 230W
• Dynamic Boost and Whisper Mode are not supported in Linux
• OS is preloaded on smaller drive (following ThinkPad rule). If size is same,
preload on first port recognized by BIOS. • Cool-and-Quiet on Lap (CQL) mode is default off across all MWS; can be
enabled/disabled in BIOS
• DP signal comes directly from NV GPU, so system is VR ready
• No Tile tracking available across all CS23 MWS
• NVIDIA G-Sync is not supported – Tile has backed out of all OEM partnerships for 2023, but will continue to
support old in-market products
• Battery life varies significantly with settings, usage, and config.

• Microsoft moved the power slider from its traditional location within the Taskbar in Win10 to a
new location under the Settings menu in Win11.
– Clicking the existing battery icon on the Windows 11 taskbar doesn’t reveal the power slider.
• Within Settings, go to System → Power & Battery, then scroll down to the “Power mode”
dropdown menu. Here, you should see different options, capping them off with “Best
performance.”

UP Mode in Windows 10
• Feature is adjusted by Windows performance power slider. One
can access it by clicking the battery icon in the Windows system
tray.
• Adjusts fan speed, provides max performance, and manages

battery life.
• Different modes (in DC mode):

– Best battery life: Slider is on far left. Both fan speed and skin temps are
lowest for a cooler, quieter computer and best battery life.

mechanical tamper detection switch. The system will
not power on or present an error message if the bottom
door has been removed. The tamper resistant detection
switch is present to prevent unauthorized access into
system. This feature is enabled in the BIOS in the
Internal Device Access section of the Security Menu.
The use of a Supervisor password is required to
activate this feature. If the tamper switch activation
error is displayed, then connection of the correct AC
adapter and knowledge of the Supervisor password is
required.

• CPU side SSD and Memory is easy to be accessed by Service Door
• Keyboard is designed to be easier removable by losing 2 captured screws and 2 cable connectors.
• LCD bezel is easy to be removed w/ adhesive only that does not require disassembling the LCD module from C cover.
So, some key components like LCD panel, camera etc. in LCD module are easy to replace.

UEFI Diagnostic Program
A UEFI diagnostic program is preinstalled on
the computer. It enables you to test memory
modules and internal storage devices, view
system information, and check and recover bad
sectors on internal storage devices.
To run the UEFI diagnostic program, do the

following:
1. Turn on the computer.
2. Repeatedly press and release the F10
key when turning on the computer. The
main screen of the UEFI diagnostic
program is displayed.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to
use the diagnostic program.

How to run the test:
Press power button with special key combination to enter self-test mode.
Used by on-site support (service) for problem determination.
