EUMIND: WORLD OF WORK

PART IV- REFLECTION

(Group 4- MEDIA/FILM)

Q1-Describe the workplace:

a) The work location:

Ans- We’re situated in Andheri West, which is a centre of a lot of cinema activities in terms of auditions
and training.

b) The working conditions and the safety measures:

Ans- We have three campuses, three buildings that we operate out of- one is the main building, one is a
dance hall and one is an ancillary building. Because we have classes, it operates much like any school or
college would, where classrooms are the main idea and then based on the moods that we are supposed
to generate we end up working with staff and students to create classrooms an environment. So, each
has its own creative situation to deal with. And ultimately safety precautions for us is safety for our
students which means we have action classes, we have dance classes, we have a bunch of this stuff going
on. And even when students or actors have to work with props or glass, since they are at an emotional
high we tend to take care of this stuff with body pads, action directors and supervisors and a first-aid kit
at hand and hospitals nearby although we have never had to use them.

c) The pattern of working hours:

Ans- Much like any school, the custodians begin their work at 8:00 a.m, staff will typically arrive by 9:00-
9:30 and students will start arriving by 9:45. We like to be punctual, and we like to inculcate a habit of
discipline. And it works, it goes on till 5:00-5:30, that’s when people start to clear up.

d) Lunch hour:

1:00-2:00 p.m. lunch, typically so that everyone can have a breather and reconnect afterwords.
Sometimes, that’s a flexible thing based on if a class is extended we go for 1:30 to 2:30 but mostly
everyone breaks at 1:00.
Q2- The organization- describe the:

a) Who founded the organization and who is the owner now?

Ans- So my father, Mr. Kishore Namit Kapoor founded the organization. It wasn’t an organization when
he founded it. He started out of an apartment just like Apple started out in a garage. It was in the living
room of a Lokhandwala flat and then we moved to a formal situation which is this place. It’s a campus
which was built in ’98. And he’s the current owner, proprietor and principal.

b) When and where did the organization start operating?

Ans- Started out in a flat where people used to come in, we used to use the living room, us kids, we were
in the bedroom. That was the sort of informal situation it was. ’98 we decided to go formal, and now it’s
a private limited firm. So started in 1994 roughly and in ’98 we went formal.

Q3- Which services are offered and/or what is produced in the organization?

Ans- We’re an educational institute so what is produced is really an actor ultimately. And we seem to
have a track record of creating people for the glamour field, so we end up having a lot of stars. That’s the
difference primarily between an actor and a star. But what seems to be the finished product perse, is a
wholistically improved individual- someone who tends to either have a lot of personality development as
they’ve gone through this process or now has the aptitude to excel in the film industry.

Q4- Who are the main customers of the organization?
