1.0 INTRODUCTION
CONSTROVISION prepared this report for proposed Project at PUNE. M/s. S & J BUILDCON PVT. LTD.
authorized CONSTROVISION ENGINEERING CONSULTANT PVT LTD. to carry out consultancy services and
geotechnical investigation with scope of services outlined below.
This report is prepared for the exclusive use of our client and their consultants for design of this project. In the
event that any changes are made in the character, design or layout for the improvements, we must be
contacted to review the conclusions and recommendations contained in this report to determine whether
modifications are necessary. This report presents results of the soil investigation and geological information
along with foundation recommendations for the proposed structures.

1.1 OBJECT AND SCOPE

The Purpose of the investigation is to determine the subsurface stratification to determine suitable and
economical foundation system for the proposed structure and to evaluate static and dynamic parameters of
soil. To study the engineering properties of the geology medium and to identify the difficulties that may arise
during construction due to ground and other local conditions.
The scope of work includes the following.
 One Trial Pit designated up-to various depth below ground level.
 Collection of disturbed soil samples and transportation of selected soil samples to laboratory for its analysis.
 Laboratory testing and analysis.
 Submission of detailed interpretative geotechnical report.

1.2 SITE LOCATION

This site located at PUNE MAHARASHTRA.

2.0 FIELD INVESTIGATION

2.1 TRIAL PIT

 The Method of exploring by open trail pits consists of excavating trail pits at the site and there by exposing
subsoil surface thoroughly, enabling undisturbed sample to be taken. The undisturbed samples may be
obtained by driving sharp-edged thin wall tubes into the ground by gently hammering or pressure.
Alternately, hand cut samples known as chunk samples can be obtained. In sufficiently cohesive soil,
undisturbed sample can be cut out and trimmed to regular shapes, say a cube or cylinder.
 Labelling was done as recommended in BIS-1892 standards. Immediately after a sample has been taken
a label was placed on to the sample, details were written on the sample tube or core liner giving the
job name and number, exploratory hole number, sample number, depth from which it was obtained and
indicating its top and bottom in case of undisturbed samples. The same information was also given on a
label fixed on the exterior of each sample bag or core. All samples and cores were labelled and documented
on the borehole logs. The labels included the following information.

2.2 SAMPLES HANDLING AND TRANSPORTATION:
 Upon recovery of the soil samples, field geologist visually classified, logged, and labelled the respective
samples. Disturbed samples, collected using DS, were visually classified using IS 1498 and then stored
in plastic bags. The bags were labelled and placed in appropriate bags. The tube samples were not
extruded in the field. A portion of the sample from the ends of the tubes was collected for visual
classification. All the soil samples meant for laboratory testing.

3.0 BEARING CAPACITY ANALYSIS

The ultimate net bearing capacity is evaluated after taking into consideration of shape factor, depth factor and
inclination of load and water table of the foundation in accordance with IS:6403-1981. Local Shear Failure
was considered for safe bearing capacity computation. The net bearing capacity for local shear failure is
worked out using the following equation as per IS: 6403-1981

Q= γ*D*(Nq-1)*Sq*dq+0.50 *γ'*B*N¡*S¡*d¡*W'+c*Nc*Sc*dc
Where, c = Cohesion, q = Overburden Pressure, γ = Density, B = Width of the Footing
Nc, Nq, Nγ = Bearing capacity Factor ,S c, Sq, Sγ = Shape Factor Dc, dq, dγ = Depth Factor

SAMPLE CALCULATIONS FOR TRIAL PIT-01

According to IS: 6403:1981,
Angle of Internal Friction- 14 degree
Submergd Density – 1.47 gm/cc
Cohesion c = 0.85 kg/cm2
Nc= 10.45, Nq= 3.36, Nγ = 2.64
For Square footing, Table:2,
Shape factors
Sc= 1.3 Sq= 1.2 Sγ =0.8

Depth of foundation- 100 cm (Df)

Width of footing cm (B) -100cm
dc= 1.25
forφ>10
dq=dy=1+0.1*Df/B(Nq^0.5)
dq=dy= 1.12

Geotechnical Report JAN 2024 Page|2

Local inclination factor is not considered because load is vertical
sub charge intensity (q)= 0.147 kg/cm2
Bulk unit weight of foundation (γ) = 0.001kg/cm2
Factor of safety -2
By using above equation,
Q= γ*D*(Nq-1)*Sq*dq+0.50 *γ'*B*N¡*S¡*d¡*W'+c*Nc*Sc*dc
Q = 20.729 Tn/m2
Safe Bearing capacity is,
Qs = Q/FOS
Where, FOS=2 (Factor Of safety)
Qs = 20.7297/2
= 10.40 T/m2
RECOMMENDED SBC

TRIAL PIT-01 10.00 T/m2

Note:
This report is issued based on the subsoil condition revealed at the location of Trial Pit and laboratory tests performed on recovered samples. If
during construction of foundations it is observed that sub soil conditions vary from those revealed during investigation it is essential that
ConstrovisionEngineering Consultant Pvt Ltd shall be contacted so that on confirmation supplementary report shall be issued.
