Vijaya Karnataka is a kannada language newspaper that is published by the Times
group. The newspaper was started in 1999 by the VRL group, headed by Vijay
Sankeshwar. Vijaya Karnataka is most read newspaper in Karnataka with 11
editions across 31 districts. The newspaper covers topic such as sports, business,
world news, India, politics, entertainment, lifestyle and astrology. Vijaya Karnataka
commonly known as VK, is a prominent vernacular newspaper with a dedicated
circular department led by Pratap Sir. The newspaper’s circulation is meticulously
managed, reaching readers through a chain that includes the press, deposing to the
incharge, vendors, and their respective areas, ultimately reaching consumers. In
Mysore alone, there are four deposition points. Despite the effectiveness of English
papers, VK stands out with its affordable ad rates ranging from 5 Rs to 25 Rs,
making it a popular choice for ad makers. The newspaper operates 360 days a year
with only four days off, and it offers various advertising options, including jacket
ads, front page, or full-page ads, each priced differently based on readership and
production costs.
The business model includes a 30% margin for vendors depending on the areas
they cover. Vernacular newspapers like VK generally face fewer issues, as the
connection to the mother tongue enhances understanding. With a work schedule
from morning to evening, VK has successfully served its readers for 25 years.
Stringers, or freelancers, and small presses contribute news articles and linage to
the newspaper, with pay varying based on ad volume. Discussions on pricing and
all relevant details are carefully considered. Notably, prices remain consistent
throughout the year, except during times of controversial news, when the
intelligence department handles threats by conducting case studies. In the end, the
audience serves as the ultimate judge, with VK circulating an impressive 6.5 lakhs
copies, reaching one newspaper into five people, and the GSM (Grams per Square
Meter) varying based on production needs.

CONCLUSIONS:

practical insights into the production process and gained a better understanding of
the automotive industry. The visit also provided me with the opportunity to observe
several unique features and innovations in the production process. Overall, the visit
was an eye-opening experience, and I believe that the insights gained will be
applicable to my future career or academic pursuits.
