Introduction

Time is a valuable resource that continues to pass us by without returning. The key to

achieving life success is to efficiently manage this resource, which everyone has in equal

amounts, and to place adequate focus on planning. The high performance demanded by

competitive conditions compels organizations and directors to make optimal use of time and

necessitates the pursuit of time control. People are encouraged to organize and manage their

time wisely as early as elementary school in today's competitive climate.

In our advanced world, time plays a crucial role in our daily lives. It is important in anyone,

which is why time management appears to balance the various tasks we have. The

importance of time management is even mentioned in the Bible, in Genesis Chapter One of

the Holy Bible. Time management predates modern times, as God Himself exhibited time

management prowess at creation. Time is a priceless resource that continues to slip away

from us. The key to obtaining life success is to effectively manage this resource, which

everyone possesses in equal proportions, and to devote sufficient time and attention to

planning. (Razali et al 2018).

In an under developing nation like the Philippines, learners who endure numerous

administrative and academic issues during their academic journey have dramatic experience

for analysts to come up with significantly more interesting results. Various researchers

conducted studies in which they found out the effects of time management on the academic

performance of students. For better results in either traditional or distance learning programs

at schools, the schedule should be well organized, implemented, and controlled. Focusing

time also makes it easier to sustain cost-effective educational structures and procedures.

Considering this academic world, specific enhancement has been made in the competitive

academic world, confronting difficulties by assessing learners' abilities, mentalities, and

practices associated with time management. (Sevari et al 2011). Time management is

important, and it can have a significant impact on an individual's overall performance and

achievements. Today's students frequently complain that they don't have enough time to

finish all of the chores that have been allocated to them. Furthermore, the flexibility and

independence of a university setting can distract students who have not acquired time

management skills (Razali et al., 2)

Time management abilities should be developed early in the lives of first-year university

students (Nonis et al., 2006; Nonis et al., 1998; Sauvé et al., 2016). When developing task

plans, students can use time management skills to help them analyze tasks and schedule their

completion, providing them more important planning skills and a better grasp of

responsibilities and their importance (van der Meer et al., 2010). Notably, research shows that

strong time management methods can considerably improve a person's quality of life outside

of university studies (Wang et al., 2011).

Accourding to Sherry, L. (1995), distance learning systems deal with a number of factors

which affect their success or failure. The first achievement of distance students is managing

time effectively. Distance learning enables a learner to achieve access to accumulate

education without the pain of getting to forfeit the chance of retaining their jobs. This needs

systematic and deliberate planning and subsequent prudent use of the time available. Most

students value time in completing individual activities on time, and every minute can be

transformed into profit.

Mismanagement disturbs the academic achievements of learners. Therefore, the findings of

this study may help distance learners manage their time properly for better academic

performance. Not only is students' academic performance influenced by time management, it

also creates possibilities for increased stress levels and mental capabilities among them. They
need to manage their time for their health and personal accomplishments. Students' talents

may segue from the reasoning and intellect required by high school students to achieve

academic success, allowing them to comfortably transition to university. Although this shift

can be aided before and during work-integrated experiences, it is not guaranteed learning

(Bandaranaike, 2018). Most of the studies of correlational time management and academic

performance use random people to gather data. Likewise, the study will gather data from

people who have a maintaining grade and a strand with mostly honor students while in

distance learning. This study aims to assess the correlation between time management and

academic performance during distance learning, which aims:

1. Is there a correlation between time management and academic achievement in

distance learning?

2. How could time management be improved to improve students' academic

performance?
