LYNISHA A/P SANKER

Piano, Performance Grade 1

Overall result: Merit

Diabelli: Allegretto in C (No. 3 from Die ersten 12 Lectionen, Op. 125) 24/30
Notes and rhythms were well managed and the pace was well maintained, and there was a
feeling for the phrasing, although shading and shading needed development, as did the
sense of balance. All was neatly coordinated and the tempo was consistent.

A. Reinagle: Minuet in C (No. 10 from 24 Short and Easy Pieces, Op. 1) 25/30
A feeling for the Minuet character was conveyed and the underlying pulse was strong
throughout. There was scope for more musical content here, but phrasing was evident and
much was safely balanced, which allowed the melodic interest to project quite easily. The
final cadence needed a more poised feel.

F. Price: A Morning Sunbeam (No. 3 from Three Sketches for Little 24/30
Pianists)
This flowed easily and both notes and rhythms were reliable, Some musical features were
conveyed, but there was scope for more shaping and shading to add further interest. The
final phrase was a little cautious.

Caroline Tyler: Little Whale Explores the Calm Sea 24/30

Much was safely managed here in terms of notes, but not all was rhythmically alert as this
progressed, although flow was always maintained and the right atmosphere was conveyed.
Textural control was evident here.

Performance as a whole 24/30

The sequence and pacing of the programme was effective and many of the technical
challenges were met, but there was scope for further musical involvement in all pieces,
although a sense of stylistic awareness was evident. Textural clarity and control was
conveyed and the playing projected with sufficient consistency to maintain the performance
situation.
