SATHENA A/P K.MUNISWARAN

Piano, Performance Grade 3

Overall result: Distinction

Anon.: Minuet in G, BWV Anh. II 116 26/30

A well chosen tempo allowed you to shape the phrases with a pleasing ebb and flow as the melody
weaved evenly between the hands. Whilst tiny finger blemishes occurred the articulation was stylistic
and helped to variate the sections appropriately.

Nakada: The Song of Twilight (from Piano Pieces for Children) 25/30
You created something of the twinkling mood here with your cantabile tone and fairly well blended left
hand accompaniment. There were a few small finger slips and smudges of pedal but some dynamics
were observed and you maintained enough momentum to end in a poised conclusion despite the
hesitations in the middle.

Nancy Litten: The Sad Ghost 27/30

This opened with an idea for the melancholic and mysterious mood as the tempo was aptly sustained
and rhythms were mostly exact. A few tonal bumps occurred within the legato line but a wide range of
dynamics were explored and the ending was most atmospheric.

Joplin: The Entertainer, arr. Önaç 26/30

Your enjoyment for this was evident from the confident dynamic opening that set something of the
jaunty mood. Whilst the tempo could have been slightly more daring, the left hand bounced with
rhythmic spirit and the right hand danced with some nimble finger work to convey the joyful character
with conviction.

Performance as a whole 26/30

You showed commitment and enthusiasm in this performance as a whole since the programme was well
paced and effectively organised. All the musical styles were clearly defined through observed
articulation and contrasting tempi. A few hesitations and pedal smudges slightly tarnished the overall
impression but there was always a sense of enjoyment to your playing and glimpses of dynamic
creativity, especially in the Sad Ghost.
