Zara Sofia binti Ibrahim received an overall result of Distinction for her Piano Performance Grade 2 exam. She played four pieces confidently and musically, maintaining tempo and dynamics appropriately, though the examiner noted there was room for more expression through dynamics and phrasing. Her performance displayed technical skill and interpretation required at this level.

Beethoven: Écossaise in G, WoO 23, arr. Czerny 25/30
This opened at a suitable tempo and was played confidently with a firm touch. Hands were mostly coordinated and the phrases were clearly defined although could have been shaped a little more.
Agnieszka Lasko: Tarantella (from Little Stories) 26/30
Confident in delivery with some feel for the dance. The pulse was generally well maintained and the dynamics observed although these could been exaggerated further especially in the middle with the arpeggiated patterns. The ending was musically played.
Stephen Duro: Forget-me-not Waltz 27/30
This flowed along at an apt tempo and the hands were well balanced for the most part with the melodic line able to sing against the accompaniment. There was scope for a little more rise and fall to the phrases but the playing was musical.
Elissa Milne: Mozzie (from Easy Little Peppers) 26/30
A characterful rendition at a suitable tempo. Articulation was clear and varied with strong accents. There was scope for a wider range of dynamics though to fully capture the mood of the piece.
Performance as a whole 26/30
The performance was well prepared and played with an air of confidence. The sequencing worked well, starting with the Beethoven Ecossaise and finishing with the quirky Mozzie. There was evidence of stylistic interpretation and awareness, with the articulation realised, but there was an opportunity to explore a little more colour and variety in dynamics in places. Technically assured and the demands required at this level were safely met.
