“R” TYPE RUNNING TOOL

Application:

• The “R” type running tool is used to set down hole control
devices utilizing “R” and “RN” locks.

Features:

• Can be run in the selective mode

• Can be run in the non-selective mode

• Has a fishing neck

Operation:

The “R” type running tool with the proper lock and control device
pinned to it, is lowered to a point below the desired setting
nipple. Upward movement of the tool string through the nipple
extends the locking keys. Downward movement of the tool
string locates the locking keys in the nipple profile. Downward
jarring shears the top pin and locks the keys in the profile.
Upward jarring shears the lower pin and the tool is retrieved to
surface.
