Ground Motion Record and Load Case

Nonlinear Response History Analysis X-Dir Ground Motion Record (DE Level)
is a high-level numerical simulation
method employed to predict the
dynamic response of structures by
considering the actual time-varying
loads applied to them and the
nonlinear behavior of the structural
elements.

Ground motion needs to be scaled to Y-Dir Ground Motion Record (DE Level)
the design response spectrum in
respected level.

• Inherent Damping : 3% with Rayleigh Damping

• P-Delta : Activated (Non-Iterative)
• Type of RHA : Nonlinear Direct Integration
• Maximum Considered Earthquake Level is also
considered in this study.

CONCLUSION AND
RECOMMENDATIONS
Vibration control technology of SRI
Conclusion

Conclusions
• The total number of damper unit applied in this study is 12 units of 20 mm GRAST VED thickness.
• GRAST VED could be applied to the existing structure to enhance the structural performance subjected to the lateral loads by potentially adding 0.45%
of structural damping
• Operational Status at DE Level is reached and enhanced by using GRAST VED.
• With proposed configuration, the story drift can be reduced to maximum of 8 % at X-Direction and 12.88% at Y-Direction at DE Level.
• GRAST VED successfully control the structural story drift. The transient vibration of the building can be significantly reduced with GRAST VED as
well.
