The Future of Diversity Program Council

Indianapolis Ind. - Apr. 19, 2023 - As this semester is coming to a close, Diversity Program
Council (DPC) is looking for more ways to evolve and elevate their voice in our community.
DPC’s goal is to raise awareness for marginalized groups and uplift people through social
justice. When questioned about the value of the program, former President Paul Ford expressed,
“It’s important to have an organization like DPC on campus because it can empower people who
don’t know where to go. I’ve always thought of being a leader as being a person who finds the
light and inspires other people to follow. When students from marginalized communities feel like
they’re in a dark place, I think DPC can be the leader and the light that makes it better. I’ve
already seen this happening with our first-year members, and I’m constantly reminded of the
importance of our work because none of this existed two years ago when I was a first-year, and I
can see the bold improvements that are happening in our community. It’s important for everyone
to see this and what DPC is becoming because a lot of students who come to us are looking for a
place to belong because they don’t feel like the rest of campus is a place to do so. We should all
care about fixing that.”

In the next academic year, Sadia Khatri, from the class of 2025 will serve as President. They plan
on gaining more awareness for the organization by being more active on social media and
creating more video content. Although their modes of communication are changing, they still are
staying true to their mission of advocating for the underrepresented. If you are interested in
