✓ Uses thematic or coding for data analysis
✓ To understand a subjective perspective of an individual to their social reality
✓ Does not use a hypothesis, as this cannot be statistically tested

➢ Mixed Method
✓ Uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative method of data gathering

RESEARCH PANELING

I. CONTENT

TITLE. The goal and rationale of the study should be clear and concise

THEORY. The theory and concept used should be relevant and the domains or elements reflected and
used in the formulation of the statement of the problem.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM. The SOP should be aligned and help attain the goal of the study as
stated in the research title. The domains and elements of the theory or concept should be reflected
in the SOP.

REPONDENTS OF THE STUDY. The respondents should be appropriate and the criteria used in the
selection process valid and relevant to the study.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT. The instrument should be detailed and provide sufficient information to
arrive at a valid finding, conclusion and recommendation of the study.

II. MORAL MANDATE

GUIDE. The panel should help the writer realize the strengths and weaknesses of his study.

IMPROVE. The panel should be able to contribute to the improvement of the paper.

DEVELOP. The panel should help the research writer come out a better person from the whole process and
experience in terms of intellectual capacity and virtue.

Avoid promoting and normalizing stigma, disgrace, shame and fear in research writing and defense.
It has always been taught to academicians in pedagogy that the failure of the learners reflect the
failure of the mentor.
