Additional comments:
• Some good combinations of digital and analog learning have been happening.
• Child safety/privacy was raised in our breakout.
• Training also a big point of discussion.
• Our independent school in Victoria with 1950 student population only 2% students at school all undertaking remote
learning (Ann-Marie Iversen, Australia)
• In Cambodia – we are doing some videos posting in TV and cable TV
• In Malaysia – we do have programme not just for the students but also for the teachers.
• In Brunei – for kids who have poor access to online learning - we have Home Learning Package (HPL) too - once a week
parent picks up the HPL from school and return the written exercise a week later
• Sending hard copies too for reasons of access and equity and to make it easier for some parents/ families
• In Brunei – MOE initiates donation drive for public to donate unused computer, tablets to be redistributed to students
who does not have the tools. Whole nation approach also Joint effort with other ministry and commercial companies
and NGO - donate laptop /tablets - which have been distributed to identified students
• Challenges:
o Equitable access to technology continues to be an enormous roadblock to learning.
o All the platforms available are good to use during this COVID period, but the problem is with the ability of the
students and parents to buy internet data which are a bit costly at this time being....some parents have no job ,
they earn no money and this is the main reason for them having no ability to buy internet data....
o Afraid that during assessment students copied others.
Key points:
• Teachers must remember to take care of themselves first otherwise you can't help your students. Select what works
best for you and your students - if you feel comfortable ..they feel secure.
• Anxiety is definitely higher in the workplace at the moment
• Students have been very supportive during these trying times. It actually acts as a morale booster when we know
parents and students are appreciative of our work. It has been a learning phase for both teachers and students alike.
Teacher welfare
• Trusting teachers, trusting students that we are all doing our best.
• Equitable access to technology continues to be an enormous roadblock to learning
• In today’s world, it is crucial to learn and keep ourselves updated.
• Hard to know what students are doing - even harder to know what other teachers are doing. this is a big issue - the
welfare of students when home is not safe.
Check out some lovely messages on Twitter for #TeacherAppreciationWeek

• Time to clarify what works - what do you miss and what do we take into the future
Road map for success • Despites of all basic issues such as internet connection, assessment, trust etc, I think we have to discuss about learning
scenario or plot of the online learning, because it is important to make sure that online learning were still effective.
