Aluminium Frame Installation Methodology

A. Aluminium Perimeter Frame Assembly Preparation for Installation

 All aluminium perimeter frames to be installed at the structural opening must be applied
with silicon at all the corner and joints location for water tightness.
 The combined aluminium profile with 4mm sheet must be screwed fixed.
 All screws must be sealed with silicon.
 Wait till the silicon cured ( 1mm / per day curing time )
 Perimeter frame must be installed once the opening structure is ready with a gap of 12mm
+/‐ 2mm in between aluminium frame and concrete surface.
 Align the perimeter frame accordingly as per tolerance and fixed the intended screws at
every 200mm c/c at all perimeter.
 The concrete surface must have a primer or final coating in preparation of the perimeter
sealant application to close the 12mm perimeter gap.
 Clean the surface of both Aluminium frame and concrete.
 Insert a backer rod at the perimeter gap in all sides.
 Apply masking tapes at the sides of the perimeter to avoid excess application of silicon.
 Apply the approved weather silicon at the gap with backer rod inserted inside and clean
the excess silicon by wiping off with clean rags.
 Avoid touching the newly applied silicon until cured ( 1mm / per day curing time ).

Note: See Fig. A as reference sketch.

B. Aluminum Main Frame Assembly Preparation for Installation

 All aluminium main frames to be installed at the aluminium perimeter frame must be
applied with silicon at all the corner and joints location for water tightness. See Fig. B1
 All screws must be sealed with silicon.
 Wait till the silicon cured ( 1mm / per day curing time ).
 Aluminium main frame must be installed after the perimeter frame with a gap of 5mm in
between aluminium frames.
 Align the main frame accordingly as per tolerance.
 Insert the 5mm levelling shims at every 300mm c/c distance along perimeter.
 Fixed the intended screws at every 300mm c/c at all perimeter.
 Clean the surface of both Aluminium frame to ensure sealant adhesion.
 Ensure the 5mm free tolerance from any obstruction during aluminium frame to frame
insertion for all sides. (This tolerance is very important in fitting both frames).
 Insert the Dia. 8mm or Dia.10mm backer rod in compress insertion at the 5mm gap.
 The 5mm levelling shims at every 300mm c/c will function as a stopper for continues
backer rod insertion.
 Apply masking tapes at the sides of the perimeter to avoid excess application of silicon.
 Apply a 5mm x 5mm weather sealant at the in between gap of the aluminium perimeter
frame and aluminium main frame and clean the excess silicon by wiping off with clean rags.
 Avoid touching the newly applied silicon until cured ( 1mm / per day curing time ).

Note: See Fig. B2 as reference sketch.

Note:

The provided installation methodology is based on the design and built contractor / manufacturer,
align with the fabrication and installation sequence. Any issue in water tightness will be defining
by the Field Water Test and Performance Mock up Test to be conducted by the Third Party
Laboratory as per standard and approved testing parameter.
