BEFORE What I already know about the topic

WATCHING Before watching the video, our knowledge about mining is pretty basic. We know
that mining is the extraction of minerals from the earth, but we are not sure of the
specific types of minerals that are extracted in combination. We also have a limited
understanding of the methods used for extraction and the potential environmental
impacts associated with mining. We know that mined minerals are used in various
products in everyday life, but we do not have a detailed understanding of how they
are applied.

What I think I will learn

DURING NOTE TAKING (CHUNKS) add the title of the Aspects that caught your attention

AFTER Reflection on the most important ideas in the video:

WATCHING What aspects of the video caught your attention? Was it helpful?
(WRAP UP) It caught our attention that everything we use in our daily lives has either been
grown or mined, emphasizing the need to source these materials responsibly. She
argue that places like Europe, with high environmental standards and worker rights,
are better suited for responsible mining than areas with lower standards. She
acknowledges that while the mining industry historically has a bad reputation,
responsible mining is possible and has the potential to contribute positively to
sustainable development goals. It also caught our attention that in the next 25-50
years we will use more minerals than we have used in the entire history of humanity
since there is more and more demand for them.

What I learned after watching the video

We learned that mining does not necessarily have to be bad, since sustainable
mining is possible if its done correctly, we also learned about the incredible
demand that is being had since you cannot deny people objects like cars,
laptops and houses

What is your opinion as group, do you agree or not on the speaker’s ideas, tell why
or why not.
As a group we agree with Lucy since it is necessary to care about the environment
and it is good that people who care and are interested in it work in sectors like these
so that the works are carried out in the most optimal way possible and this does not
make them hypocrites,
