Rationale

Comfort rooms that are kept up and kept clean are crucial to the functionin

g of any school since they affect students' overall contentment, learning experien

ce and general well-being in addition to cleanliness and health. As stated by

Dizon et al. (2020), it is necessary for schools to prioritize the well-being and

security of their students, particularly their health. The study further revealed that

if the condition of the school's comfort rooms is unpleasant, students are less

likely to feel comfortable using them. The researchers observed that the comfort

rooms are in a state that is not facilitative to their intended use. Consequently,

students avoid using the comfort rooms and instead wait until their classes end

so they can use the facilities in their respective homes. To find out the situation of

the 18 Student’s Comfort Rooms in Malinta National High School – Senior High

School, the researchers conducted a pre-survey to a total of 200 Grade 12

Students. The result of the pre-survey has revealed that the Comfort Rooms

have concerning issues. (1) 105 out of 200 respondents disagreed that the

Comfort Rooms have a pleasant odor. (2) 120 out of 200 respondents claimed

that the comfort rooms are lacking of materials/resources. (3) 70 out of 200

participants disagreed that all of the Comfort Rooms are functioning. (4) 79 out of

200 participants disagreed that the toilets are always clean before using it. Based

on the result of the pre-survey, the researchers concluded that there is a problem

regarding the Level of Satisfaction of the Grade 12 students regarding the

Sanitation and also the lack of resources of the Comfort Rooms. This research

aims to provide insights and solution into the concerns and experiences of Grade

12 students regarding the sanitation of the school's comfort rooms.

Understanding their viewpoint can help the school make wise decisions to

enhance the facility, respond to student concerns, and ultimately establish a

more uplifting and healthful learning environment for everyone. Through a

quantitative analysis, the researchers seek to address the various issues

associated with the school's comfort rooms.

Student's Comfort Rooms. This study specifically responds to the following

questions:

1. What is the profile of the students in terms of: (Dizon, et.al., 2020)

a) Gender

b) Strand

2. What is the Situation of the Student’s Comfort Rooms with regard to

Sanitation in terms of:

a) Cleanliness

b) Accessibility

c) Maintenance

3. Is there a significant difference between the profile of the Grade 12

Students and the Level of Sanitation of the Comfort Rooms in terms of:

a) Gender

b) Strand

c) Cleanliness

d) Accessibility

e) Maintenance
Definition of Terms

In this part, the concrete terms related to the Level of Satisfaction in the

Sanitation of the Comfort Rooms of Grade 12 Students in Malinta National High

School – Senior High School, with its corresponding definition. The definition that

corresponds with every term will be based on the actual definition of the terms

and how the researchers use the terms.

Comfort Room. A room or group of rooms, in a public area with restrooms: a

public bathroom (Katherine, 2022). Operationally, the comfort room is the facility

that the researchers want to take action to settle or to improve. The comfort room

is the location of the original research issue. Here, the researchers would

examine the severity of the issue for the students. It is the facility where the

research problem started. This is where the researchers would look at how big a

problem it is for the respondents.

Sanitation. According to the Encyclopedia, Sanitation is the term used to

describe the sanitary practices and concepts that deal with the proper collection,

removal, and disposal of wastewater, trash, and human excreta. Operationally,

Sanitation describes the situation of the students’ comfort rooms. One of the

reasons for the poor level of sanitation is the lack of cleaning materials that the

Comfort Room should have and also the improper usage of each cubicle before,

during, and after using the Comfort Room.

Satisfaction. Conceptually, it refers to the fulfillment of students’ needs and

desires regarding restrooms amenities. It encompasses factors such as

cleanliness, fragrance, and overall space, which contribute to the students’

contentment with the school toilets facilities (Dagoc, R., et, al. 2020).

Operationally, satisfaction is defined as how the students perceive the sanitation

of comfort rooms.
