Contraception, also known as birth control, refers to methods or devices used to prevent
pregnancy by interfering with the process of conception. The use of contraception allows
individuals and couples to have control over their reproductive choices and can help prevent
unintended pregnancies. Here are some key points regarding the use of contraception:
Preventing Unintended Pregnancies: One of the primary purposes of contraception is to prevent
unintended pregnancies. It provides individuals and couples with the ability to plan and space
pregnancies according to their desires and circumstances. Contraception allows individuals to
take control of their reproductive health and make informed decisions about when to start a
family.
Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC): LARC methods, like hormonal or copper IUDs
and contraceptive implants, provide effective contraception for an extended period without
requiring daily or frequent intervention. These methods are highly reliable, convenient, and
reversible, and they offer long-term protection against unintended pregnancies. LARC methods
are suitable for individuals who prefer a low-maintenance contraceptive option.
