The given statistical figure is a line graph which gives information about the
number of complaints received by the Environmental Health officials from the year
1980 to 1996 in the city of Newtown.

At first glance, the thing which catches the eyes is that the number of noise
complaints from the three categories of road works, factories and traffic increased
whereas the complaints of noise from the domestic/household decreased over the time
period under consideration.

Scrutinizing in depth, number of noise complaints from factories and traffic were
at 400 and 300 respectively in the near 1980 and these two fluctuated in different
directions reaching to almost the same number of complaints in 1996 at
approximately 700 and 600. Moving further to com/paints from road works, there at
the beginning the number of complaints were the second highest at 500 but at the
end this got to the highest position touching more than 1200 complaints. At last,
the noise complaints for domestic household showed a constant downtrend where in
1980 the complaints were the most at 650 approximately and these fell gradually
touching 250 in 1988 and reaching 100 complaints in the last year.
