THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS MADE ABOUT NOISE TO ENVIRONMENTAL

HEALTH AUTHORITIES IN THE CITY OF NEWTOWN BETWEEN 1980 AND

1996.

The environmental noise is a problem inside the society because it is one of the
principal causes about work stress. As we can see environmental noise has been
growing up through the years and in some cases, it has been being a big problem for all
people. We are going to analyze how the noise has been increasing between 1980
1996.

The domestic / household and the Traffic noise lines have a similar behavior
between the years 1980 and 1996. It means the noise in the last year raised almost the
double (from 500 to 1200 people in the first case and from 300 to 600 people in the
second case).
But there is a different situation with the factories line. At the beginning there
were 400 complaints between the years 1980 to 1988 reaching 700 complaints.
However, from 1988 to 1996 the line has a different behavior in decreases until 630
number of complaints.
Regarding the Road Works line, it is totally different because it has had a
decreasing conduct between the years 1980 to 1996 with numbers going from 630 to
80 complaints.

To sum up, the factories, the traffic noise, the domestic/household lines have
climbed since 1980 until 1996. Then this means the population or number of
complaints had increased through the years. However, it didn’t happen with the Road
works line, as we can see the behavior trough the time, this line has went down.
