MY SECOND HOME
IN THE NEW NORMAL SETTING
This section describes my second home in the New Normal Setting, my cooperating
school/ unit or campus I am affiliated with. Getting to know well my second home in terms
of facilities, teaching and learning platforms and its learning resources will help me spend
my entire practice teaching more comfortable and feel the real sense of belongingness. It
is therefore important for me to visit these resources and facilities in order to maximize my
use of them all.

and conducive.
Many conflicts and issues emerged unexpectedly in this type of setting, and no one was
prepared for the dramatic changes brought about by the epidemic in our everyday life. To
keep everyone safe from the infection, several changes were undertaken. The change in
the educational setting was one of the major adjustments brought about by the pandemic.
Teachers and students were obliged to make the transition from face-to-face to virtual
learning environments. The modifications make it difficult for students and instructors who
do not have the resources to deliver an adequate education.
We were introduced to our second home in the new normal environment when the
changeover of teaching interns to LIS occurred. We feel as if we are embarking on a new
chapter in our lives, and we are overwhelmed with apprehension and anxiety. We are
surrounded by a new environment, new learning, and new people. It is difficult for us to
continue with our internship, but with the guidance of school personnel, we can overcome
our fear of teaching. Teachers are highly professional and freely welcome our uniqueness
to make our teaching practice more comfortable and to make us feel like we belong to our
new second home.

PSU-Integrated School High School (ISHS) is a school under the auspices of Pangasinan State
University. The location of this school is in the same area as Pangasinan State University in
Bayambang, so that schools and universities are integrated the one with the other. PSU-
Bayambang is a branch campus of PSU, it includes a central campus in the field or faculty of
education. So, it is not surprising that the PSU-Bayambang campus is famous for its education.
The Pangasinan State University-Bayambang Campus is also among the constituent
campuses of the University to actively house a Laboratory High School (a school under the
College of Teacher Education; serves as a training ground for future High School Teachers. In
PSU-Integrated School High School (PSU-ISHS), the facilities are quite adequate. Every class
has enough facilities, such as a blackboard, tables, chairs, smart television, and a fan.
Sometimes, the learning process can conduct with LCD projector, the working system of LCD
projector has similarities to a smart television. Yet, PSU-ISHS just has an LCD projector. So,
it’s very limited. But that’s not the problem, cause most of the class have smart television which
can support the learning process. Literally, the school facilities are integrated with a university
so that the learning process is supported a lot by the university. The school is near the
gymnasium, library, and laboratory, even though it is still integrated with the university. Due to
the pandemic situation, the PSU LIS utilized synchronous and asynchronous classes in which
all teaching interns have online teaching every Monday to Friday for the safeties of all students.
