Motivation:

It is the process of stimulating people to actions to accomplish the goals.

It is a desire an employee has to work hard and do a good job.

It is the internal or external enthusiasm, desire, or determination that pushes people to accomplish
tasks, overcome challenges, and strive for personal or professional achievements.

William G Scott says

“Motivation can be referred to as an act of stimulation of work in order to get the desired
objectives, whereas ability refers to the skills and competence to do a given work.”
Therefore, the combination of both financial as well as non-financial factors motivate people to
seek work and to do work hard.
Job Satisfaction or employee satisfaction:
Job satisfaction refers to the level of contentment and fulfilment an individual experiences in their
job or work environment.

Contentment: feeling of happiness

Edwin A. Locke, an American psychologist known for his work on goal-setting theory.

His definition states:

“Job satisfaction is a pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one's
job or job experiences."

Job Satisfaction leads to:

Employee turnover: is the rate at which employees leave and are replaced by new ones in a given
period
