TITTLE: MANAGEMENT OF SHARPS

Please write up the experience of preforming this task under the following headings,
recording exactly what you did.

1. Preparation, planning and setup for the task, including identifying all
requirements:

 During our management of sharps session with our teacher we started with
theory lesson Mrs Mccabe taught us in a way we can understand and breaking
down for us the terms to our own understanding.
 All students were very happy and seems to understand the Mangement of
sharps.
 We setup a date for practical demonstration of Mangement of sharps Thursday
1 December 2022 11:00 am. And a week before we did pre preparation before
the actual practice.
 The middle raw seated students were to go first in the practical.

2. Execution – once everything was set up, provide a detailed description of how
you carried out each step of the task

 Mrs McCabe demonstrated for us the proper way and the sequence of putting
the PPE, for to get it she said we can use the abbreviation (A.M.G.G) firstly
you put on the quotation sign and wearing your Apron mask, googles and
gloves get sharp container (yellow bin) put it near to the sharp object take a
tweezer and pick the object upside down and drop it to the sharp container.
 Close the sharp container (yellow bin) to the ¾ and take it back to clinical
room and disinfect the area.
 Remove the PPE reversal way (G.G.M.A) and dispose the used PEE, wash
hands and Write the Report.

3. Outline 3 learning points in the safe management of Sharps.

 Gather the floor sign for caution so that everyone aware of the danger zone.
 Donning PPE in sequence before staring using the sharps and doffing proper
way in sequence and getting the sharp container.
 The lift sharp object and put in the bin with a tweezer. Close the sharp
container (yellow bin) to the ¾ and take it back to clinical room and disinfect
the area and write a report
4. If you were to repeat this task, what would you do differently?

 I wouldn't change anything because Mrs Mcabe taught us so profoundly way
and during practical, she was so nice and guide us perfectly as professions. We
all did excellent job.
 Before I first learned of the sharps management, I used to be in fear of being
infected when I become a care assistant or nurse. But after the management of
sharps session am in confidence and have more knowledge of using and
protect myself in proper way without fear in a workplace.
