(1) The Figure shows the arrangement of a portable microphone and stand which can be easily
assembled and disassembled.

Specifications

(a) The column is a 20 mm diameter steel tubing which is to be attached to the cast-iron base.
(b) The microphone is held in a housing (not shown) that allows it to slide at an angle of 30°
in the direction of the arrows and vertically within the column.
(c) Complete a design of the assembled portable microphone and stand, to meet the
specifications given, using sketches to show the following:
(i) The microphone in a housing and provision for the microphone and housing to slide
at 30°.
(ii) A method for raising and lowering the microphone to variable heights.
(iii) A method for holding the microphone in position.
(iv) A system for locking the housing to the column.
(v) Provision for fastening the column to the base.

(2) Marks will be awarded for presentation under the following categories:
