Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. It is the largest
waterfall in the world. It is 1.7km wide and 108m high and located between the two
countries Zambia and Zambabwe. Victoria Falls was discovered by the Scottish
explorer Dr. David Livingstone in 1855. He named the falls after Queen
Victoria. Local people call the falls Mosi-oa-Tunya, which means “the smoke that
thunders”. Long before you even see the waterfalls you can hear the roar of the
water! The months of June and July are probably the best time to see the falls. The
water levels are still high enough to show the beauty of the falls, and the weather is
pleasant.
