Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

 learn a wider perspective of history of the Filipino writing system Baybayin,


 appreciate our rich cultural heritage; and
 develop critical mind and the ability to communicate effectively through the practice
of historical method.
ENGAGE

 The teacher conducts a charade games.


 The teacher chooses two students.
 The teacher gives the students the following words: Symbol, History, Spanish
Colonialism, and Writing.
EXPLORE

 The teacher provides copy of Alibata script on each group.


 The teacher lets the group translate their names using the Alibata script.
 The teacher lets the group present their output.
EXPLAIN

 The teacher introduces the topic to the students.


 The teacher discusses the Baybayin and its history.
 The teacher discusses the differences between traditional Alibata and modern Alibata.
 The teacher provides example of Alibata letters and how it was used during pre-
colonialism.
 The teacher discusses the cultural and historical context in which Baybayin was used
