LESSON PLAN IN CONTEMPORARY PHILIPPINE ARTS FROM THE REGIONS

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
a. identify the kinds of arts developed during the Spanish Colonization;
b. build a vocabulary of major and basic terms in Philippine art history during the
Spanish Colonization; and
c. create artworks showing the art forms developed during Spanish Colonial Period.

II. Content

III. Procedure
1. Preliminary Activities
*Opening Prayer
*Checking of Attendance
*Classroom Management
*Recall the lesson.
Group Activity. The teacher will divide the class into two (2) groups. Each group
will be given five (5) minutes to prepare three (3) questions related to the previous lesson.
The group 1 will raise their first question and the other group will answer it. If the group
2 did not answer the question correctly, the group 1 will have the points. (Same with
other group)

3. Activity
Group Activity. The teacher will divide the students into five (5) groups. The
group leaders will pick one kind of art during the Spanish Colonization. In a bond paper,
they should create a drawing according to what they have picked and they will present it
to the class by answering the guide questions.

5. Generalization
What were the kind of arts contributed by the Spaniards in the Philippine history?
What are the terms in Philippine art history? How will the students create an artwork that
shows the Spaniards’ contribution?
6. Application
The teacher will call students to provide their insights on the relevance of Spanish
influence on the kinds of art today. Applying what they’ve learned, they’ll provide
activities and actions to further nurture and cultivate the arts that we’ve establish from the
Spanish influence.
7. Values Integration
Students must learn how to give importance to the artworks contributed to the
Philippine history during the Spanish Colonization.

IV. Evaluation
In a ½ sheet of paper, students will be asked to name at least 2 artworks in the
Philippine History during the Spanish Colonial period and provide description of
each.

V. Assignment
As one of the students’ performance outputs, the students will make a poster of an art
influenced and contributed by the Spanish Colonizers.
