CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

The researchers collected three old coconuts and numerous leaves of jackfruit

tree. The antibacterial oil was produced using the oil coming from the coconut and the

burned jackfruit leaves.

These are the ingredients and materials used in the project:

1. Old coconut (The researchers used 3 old coconuts for the project)

2. Jackfruit leaves

3. An empty bottle

4. Pan

5. Scraper or Coconut grater

The researchers made first the coconut oil. These are the methods in making the

oil:

1. Remove the husk from the coconut.

2. Split the coconut with a sharp cleaver.

3. Scrape or grate the coconut meat from the shell.

4. Put water to the grated coconut and squeeze it.

5. Boil the squeezed grated coconut for about 1 hour.

6. After boiling it, wait until there is the white layer of curd appears

7. Then, strain the oil so that the curd will be separated from the oil.

8. Put into an empty bottle the coconut oil produced.

After making the coconut oil, the researchers the take hand for the ashes from the

jackfruit leaves. These are the methods in producing ashes:

1. Gather the jackfruit leaves.

2. Burn the leaves. The researchers did not used any things/components that will

make the process faster.

3. Put the ashes of the burned leaves into an empty and clean container.

Lastly, the researchers mixed the two products made and put it into an empty

bottle.

For the testing, the researchers designed three setups with three samples each,

representing three trials.
