I am writing to inform you of a circumstance that requires me to request a deferral for the

upcoming graduation ceremony scheduled for 22nd March 2024]. As an integral part of my

cultural and religious beliefs, I observe the holy month of Ramadan, which coincides with the

planned graduation ceremony.

Ramadan is a sacred time for me, marked by fasting, prayers, and deep reflection. As you may be

aware, the observance of Ramadan involves a daily fast from dawn to sunset, which includes

refraining from consuming food and water. This practice is an essential aspect of my faith and

requires a considerable amount of time and dedication throughout the month.

In light of the importance of Ramadan and its impact on my ability to fully participate in the

graduation ceremony, I kindly request your understanding and support in deferring my

graduation ceremony attendance until October. This would allow me to celebrate this significant

milestone with my family, friends, and fellow graduates at a time that does not conflict with my

religious observance.

I understand the significance of the graduation ceremony and the joy it brings to both graduates

and their families. I am truly grateful for the education and experiences I have gained during my

time at Macquarie University and I am eager to celebrate my achievements with the university

community.

I assure you that my commitment to completing my academic requirements remains unwavering,

and I am eager to receive my degree in October. I appreciate your consideration of my request

and would be happy to discuss any alternative arrangements that may accommodate both my

religious observance and the university's scheduling requirements.

Thank you for your understanding and support in this matter. I look forward to your positive

response.
