What I learned about this seminar last November 8 is the things that Laguna Water did to
make a change in the waters of Laguna. The speakers talked about the projects and social
movements that they did to make these changes possible; they also told us ways to how can we
take care of the environment with our own hands and feet. The speaker first motivated us with
her saying “You don’t need a high position to make a change for the environment”. This saying
states that whatever social class you are in, whoever you are, as long as you are really willing
and eager to be a change then you will make sure to disregard all of it and make a move. The
speaker representatives of Laguna Water also gave us a quick overview of their social projects,
these includes Ahon Tubig Program etc. There are a lot of public programs that we could
volunteer in to help clean and maintain the environment a decent place where we can thrive in
peace. In conclusion for the first speaker, we could not live without clean water. Water is the
primary source of life and without it, where would the people be right now?
The next speaker talked about the organization named, Mapua Kalikasan. To give a brief
overview of the said organization, it is a group of college students in Mapua that aims to promote
a healthy and green environment. These people do their best to make a change in our
surroundings. The speaker asked us questions about things that we have or haven’t done yet, the
one question that stayed with me is “Have you tried hiking in a mountain?”. It hit me because
she’s right, I am someone who only stays at home doing nothing, not even knowing what’s
currently happening in the environment that surrounds me.
