Welcome to our school! We hope your stay with us will be enjoyable. In order to assist you, we have
prepared this information folder. If this folder fails to address any of your concerns, please refer to
the list of contact people.

SUPERVISION DUTIES

Day 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6, 7, 8, 9:

8:50 to 8:55 a.m. Supervise students in hallway near rooms 105,106, 107, and 108. These are grade
one classes and may need reminders to change their shoes, take off coats, etc.

3:25 to 3:40 p.m. Sidewalk at front of school near daycare (fenced area). Please wear High-visibility
vest located on coat rack near computer in music room. Make sure students/parents are not walking
across bus lanes (only cross at sidewalk near road), students should not be play fighting or running. If
there are remaining students who have not been picked up by 3:40, please bring them to the office.

MEDICAL & SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

● Please see attached safety plan for Edward (5B Ms. class) and for Shakir (4A Ms. class)

● Anaphylaxis list for students who use an epi pen is also attached (I have highlighted students in
my classes).

● If students are not behaving and/or getting out of control, please use the help of ______ , who
is the behavioural teaching assistant. Her extension is 425 – just pick up the phone and dial
(you don’t have to press intercom or anything special before dialing). It can be hard to reach
her during class as she is often in classrooms, but you can call 400 to call the office and ask
them to page her. Or, simply call 400 say “I need support in room 104.”

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
IN CASE OF FIRE

When a fire alarm is sounded, the responsibility of staff is to get the students

safely out of the building.

Your primary exit is door 14.


(turn right out of music room then left)

Your secondary exit is door 15.


(turn left and go out the door across from library)

In order to facilitate a safe evacuation, please note:

- Take red folder that is hanging on the bulletin board above computer
- If time permits, turn off all electrical equipment, lights and close doors and
windows.
- Students should proceed, in an orderly fashion, out of the building and
reassemble at least 30 metres from the building for attendance verification. Go
across the pavement towards the grass/fence and have students remain in a
line.
- Take attendance and if everyone is present, hold up the green sign (in folder)
that says “GO.” If someone is missing, hold up red STOP sign and inform
administration immediately.
- Please inform the administration (when they come around) how many of your
students are with a different teacher.
- When the bell sounds twice, you may escort your class back into the building.

Clipboards – in a big grey/green bin near window

Erasers – in a pink cup near the pencils. Please ask students to share erasers. As there
aren’t many there, there won’t be enough for everyone. Please ensure they return
them.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Quiet Signal Acceptable Rewards

Raise hand silently and wait for students If then entire class has been cooperative
to do the same. It may take quite some for the 40 minutes of their music class,

where they are.

Recess: 2:35 – 2:50

Dismissal Procedures Washroom Procedures


Students use a buddy system for the washroom,
getting a drink, and going to the office. It is fine
to let some go, but if a lot of students keep
asking, you can say no and ask them to wait until
the end of class.
