Adjectives in Arabic come after the noun. This is opposite to English.

A new house ‫بَيْتٌ َجدِي ٌد‬

In Arabic the adjective is called na’t (‫ )ن ْعت‬and the noun it is qualifies is called

The adjective will be in agreement with the noun in the following 4 matters:

Gender: The adjective of a masculine noun is masculine. Similarly, the adjective of a

feminine noun is feminine.

Being definite or Indefinite: If the noun is definite the adjective will also be
definite. Likewise, if the noun is indefinite then the adjective will be indefinite too.

Case : The adjective will be always match the case of the noun (man’uut). So if the
noun is marfoo’ then the adjective will likewise be marfoo’ and so on and so forth.

Number : The adjective will be always match the noun (man’uut) In regards to
number. So if the noun singular the the adjective will be singular. If the noun is dual
the adjective will be dual. If the noun is plural the adjective will be plural.

● ‫ َ ْل‬has a few usages. Today we will learn one. That is that it is used in
positive (affirmative) sentences to object to what was mentioned
before it and confirm what follows it.
● It can be translated as ‘nay’ ,’that’s not the case, in fact … ’, ‘rather’,
‘actually’, ‘in fact’
