Contribution of Technology in Education

The coming of the new generation brought the evolutions of technology which greatly impacted
our lives. We cannot deny that these technologies indeed made our lives much easier in every aspect,
mainly in communication, transportation, and in education. In terms of education, it does not only
provide various learning materials outside of books, but it also makes educators much more creative
and effective with their professions. It is undeniably seen that we can no longer live without these
technologies.

Comparing the methods of education during the early times to the present, it is seen evidently
that gathering information nowadays is much easier than the old times. As an example, during the early
times where everything is done manually, when gathering information about a certain topic, one must
travel to various libraries to gather sufficient information from different published books. This consumes
a lot of time and effort as well. But now, in the present time, when we need to research on something,
we can easily access it by searching it online. Various resources are provided which you can choose
from. Conducting a research or a thesis that requires people to answer surveys are also made easy by
technology. Nowadays, you no longer need to print out each questionnaire for the respondents. Google
forms are now available, which also automatically tallies every respondent’s answer. It saves time as
well as papers.

Having access to other information outside of the book also gives students many different ways
to learn a concept. Video tutorials, step-by-step lectures and diagrams that are available online helps
the student to understand a certain concept much better rather than relying on textbooks alone. Also,
students don’t have the same wavelength of understanding, so technologies are a big help to students
who want to catch up to the lessons they had a hard time digesting inside the classroom or to students
who wants to study in advance. This gives a student a sense of independence as well as they are able to
recognize their own study habit that are effective to them.

As mentioned earlier, technology also helps students as well as educators to become more
creative in their learning outputs. For the students, projects assigned by teachers such as video reports,
powerpoint presentations, poster makings and the such, brings out creativity to every student which are
then enhanced with the help of technology. Gadgets that have applications such as video or photo
editors, and application or websites that allows one to create a presentation is a big help to students to
enhance their works and give more ideas to them. This allows the students to learn as well as have fun
by engaging in these projects. It also accelerates learnings. As for the teachers, technology provides new
teaching strategies for the students to engage more on what they are teaching that then, makes them
more effective. It helps them explain a concept well so that students can digest it easily. Giving of
outputs to students, like seatworks and quizzes are also made easy since it can be done online, and
results can be given immediately, hence makes evaluation faster and easier. It lessens the workload of a
teacher, and it also saves time and papers as well.

Along the same lines, technology also helps in enhancing the relationship between a student
and a teacher since communication is made easy. Now, a student can express their concern regarding a
subject through an email or any messaging applications. When a student is not comfortable with talking
to a teacher face to face, they will still be able to address a certain concern through virtual
communications. A student can also ask for help from their classmates through these virtual
communications especially when one is in a remote area and traveling takes a lot of time.

Additionally, technology influenced a lot of discoveries in many fields especially in the field of
medicine which are then studied by medical practitioners. Different methods of surgical operations as
well as vaccines and medicines are developed that became a great help in saving lives and preventing
diseases and further health complications. Gadgets and instruments are also developed with the help of
technology to aid the need of this field and the other fields as well.

In conclusion, technology really improved our education to an excellent extent. It contributed a

lot in our education starting from the learning materials, new teaching techniques, discoveries and
theories, and a lot more. It surely made our education a lot more easy and accessible to both students
and educators. It is also highly appreciated now that a pandemic is currently happening at the present
time. Education was still made available despite the fact that schools were temporarily closed since we
were advised to stay at home to avoid contact to other people to stop the spreading of the virus.
Although it was proven that technology still can’t replace our actual teachers, engaging teachers with
technology is still currently the best way for higher quality education for students.
