Pros of Digital Art

 Convenience
Carrying around the necessary art materials to create as you’d like isn’t always
convenient. It’s not always realistic to carry around a set up for plein air painting or to fill
up a water cup for watercolor. It can be a hassle. Creating with a digital medium is
relatively hassle-free. You can carry your device with you almost everywhere, and it’s
always ready when you are ready to create.

 Increased Access
Not every student has a set of watercolors or acrylic paint set at home, but many
students have access to some type of digital device like an iPad or smartphone. Sure,
devices might not be cheap initially, but in comparison to all the consumable tubes of oil
paint an artist might buy in a year, the one-time technology purchase makes sense. Yes,
technology breaks and needs replacing, but so do paintbrushes and canvases.

 Increased Productivity and Flexibility

Creating digitally saves time. If you make a mistake on a digital drawing or painting, you
can simply press the undo button to start over. In a digital creation, you can erase without
a trace, change colors easily, and position and resize objects in seconds. You are not
limited by the physical features of the material world.

 Instant Shareability
Because digital art creation is already stored on a digital device, it is easier for artists to
share their work in its highest form. Work can be shared digitally on websites and through
social media instantly. Sure, a photograph of a painting doesn’t usually do the physical
features of the painting justice, but it can communicate the overall idea.

 Provides More Tools For The Job

Just like digital art can be quite flexible in how it allows you to work on your artworks. It
gives you tons of tools for that. The number of brushes you could use in your painting is
only limited by your imagination and the imaginations of the other artists that makes
them. If you want to draw in perspective, you won’t need to worry about drawing the
perspective grid, as there are many software and tricks for that. Digital art also allows you
to use all the colors you ever want, without having to pay extra. Symmetric tools as well
as all sorts of rulers are also provided depending on the software you are using.
 Easier To Duplicate & Distribute
With a push of a button, digital art can be easily replicated. You can print as many
copies you want of an artwork, either at home or a printing center, and at a lower cost
than reproducing traditional works. You could publish it online so that every single
person who liked it can have a copy of it. This makes it easy to back it up all your
artworks. With the right preparations and tools, it will be very hard to loss the artworks
you spent years working on.

Digital art has not only expanded the definition of art but has increased the accessibility of
art to the world. Art is not about the tools used to create it, but rather the vision, message, or
emotion of the artist. As we are living in a changing world where technology is increasing
rapidly, art adapts as it doesn’t exist in a vacuum. No matter what time period it is, what
country, or what social climate — art will always find a way to integrate its surroundings to
its trends. In other words, the real world helps shape art in a way.
