ABSTRACT:

INTRODUCTION:

Technology is a gift of God. It is possibly the greatest gift that God has given us after life itself. The
mother of all civilizations of the arts and sciences. We now live in a very different world because to
technology. It has altered and reshaped many aspects of existence living. Technology unquestionably
has a significant impact on all aspects of life. Many manual processes can be automated because of
technology. Additionally, a lot of difficult and crucial procedures can be completed more easily and
effectively using contemporary technology. Living has changed, and for the better, as a result of the
application of technology. Education has undergone a transformation thanks to technology. It is
impossible to overstate the value of technology in education. In reality when it started.

Present day social studies teachers are encouraged and in fact required to use modern teaching aids to
teach social studies in order to make classroom more lively, understandable and comprehensively to all
learners. Social Studies has been conceptualized and taught in a variety of ways. When learners are
made to see, hear, feel, smell and even taste, there is a higher degree of getting them and appreciate
subject matter taught. The more of the senses of the learners the social studies teacher is able to
stimulate and bring to bear on issues taught, the greater would be the attainment of stated objectives in
the learning domains. Materials and resources can effectively be utilized to accomplish this purpose. Too
often social studies lessons have been described as boring, uninteresting and unchallenging. This
negative and uninspiring state can be turned around through the identification, collection, preparation
and utilization of instructional materials and resources (Ololobou, 2010). As a result, Many teachers
struggle with motivating students to learn. it is crucial for social studies teachers in the current day to
carefully choose and apply educational resources that can be effectively used by teachers at all levels to
enhance effective teaching and learning. The resources that can leave a lasting impression on the minds
of the learners should be included in the resources that boost successful learning.

This study will discuss the significance of using the internet to educate various social studies
curriculum themes. This is a crucial tool since it allows teachers to find images and data to improve
their PowerPoint presentations. The pupils can use data that they have found online into their own
projects. Instead of only recalling historical events, this will assist students learn how to put their
grasp of history into practice. Additionally, social studies professors can use the internet to put
information on their websites so that students can access it from home. The highlight of this article is
how teachers can now share their lesson plans on their websites, which is beneficial for their
students. In addition, Teachers must be trained to use technology in the classroom. If teachers are not
trained they will not be able to utilize the technology they have available to them. Teachers are now
expected to meet certain criteria so that they can accurately teach their students the use of technology
in the classroom. Due to the fact that many pupils lack historical knowledge, technology utilization in
this area of education has become crucial. History professors used to require their students to
memorize dates, years, and events, but this hinders their ability to retain a lot of information. Instead
of just memorizing information, technology now makes it possible for kids to actively study.
Additionally, this field's use of technology encourages students to think critically rather than just
memorize information. Inquiry-based learning is one productive application of technology in this
area. The World Wide Web and CD-ROMs are used in inquiry-based learning, which makes use of
all forms of learning. Typically, technology is employed to provide students a deeper comprehension
of the material. The notion that technology should only be used for positive purposes was also used if
it will improve the learning process. To ensure that students learn social studies subjects to the
fullest, technology should be used in conjunction with conventional teaching methods.
