Description
Adverbs of Frequency: words that describe how often an action happens.
Main Aims
To introduce and provide practice of the adverbs of frequency grammar. Commented [RE1]: In what context?
Subsidiary Aims
To practice common lexis around feelings.
Background
Class Profile
The class is pre-intermediate level, is a weak group. They lack language to complete tasks successfully. They often
use their L1 to compensate their English weaknesses.
Assumptions
I assume the students have a little practice in feelings lexis. I assume they have not used adverbs of frequency
before.
Personal Aims
My personal aim is to be more specific with my instructions and provide more illustrative tasks.
Anticipated Problems & Solutions
Problem: students may not know the word often or basic lexis about feelings.
Solution: I will have as subsidiary aim the review of lexis around feelings.

TARGET ITEM:
1. Always
2. Often
3. Sometimes
4. Never
MEANING
Problem: it could be hard for students to understand this language if they lack lexis about feeling.
Solution: I will include pictures with the feelings so they can identify the lexis more easily.
FORM
Problem: students may be confused about the 2 grammar constructions we have in this topic.
Solution: I will put together examples of both constructions and their differences. I will also provide a sheet with
the grammar theory so they can look at it anytime they need it.
Always: ɔːl.weɪz
Often: ɒf.ən
Sometimes: sʌm.taɪmz
Never: nev.ər
Solution: I will model the word so they can hear it before doing a choral drill.
