Modifications in the gear box 16S - 1650

For your knowledge, we are indicating hereinafter the modifications introduced, on series, in the above men-
tioned gear box. We ask you to duly observe the exposed subject, when carrying out the intervention/repair of
the referred gear box.

MODIFICATION - A
Modification of the drive shaft rear bearing, according to the following indications. Consequently, the drive shaft
and the gear box housing have been also modified.

INTERCHANGEABILITY
The parts engaged in the previous and present executions are not interchangeables. Therefore, in the case of
an eventual replacement of parts, the execution of the gear box submitted to the repair should be observed (in
accordance with the series nº) to apply the parts corresponding to the same.

In the case of the previous execution, we observed that the rear bearing (001 980 84 02) is still available as
spare part.

MODIFICATION - B
Modification of the re-driving in the lock plate rivets, of the main shaft split locking ring. In accordance with the
following indications, the same is now effected in four points (see fig. 02), instead of three points.

REMARKS:
The same procedure (re-driving in of rivets in 4 points) should be also applied in the gear boxes indicated be-
low, at the time of an eventual intervention/removal of the main shaft:
• Gear boxes Nº 388 260 73 00 (ZF 1297 095 028), with series nº inferior to ...28:1399;
• Gear boxes Nº 388 260 71 00 (ZF 1297 095 020).
Obs.: Whenever removing the lock plate, it should be replaced.
