S5-680 gearbox modification

OF 1620 vehicles

Above mentioned vehicles, as of chassis final no. ...089010 and as per following indications, are now equipped
with the new S5-680 gearbox (new version), with a new reduction ratio.

Due to the new dimensioning of the “S5-680 gearbox” - new version (No. 384 260 93 00)”, the part no. of the
some components are different if compared to the ones of the “S5-680 gearbox - former version (No. 384 260 83

NOTES:
• The S5-680 gearboxes, in the former version, are now fitted with a new pair of gear wheels for the 4th gear
(4mm wider), as of the gearbox with serial no. 10:9268.
- despite the modification, the part numbers, No. 000 263 23 14 (main gear wheel) and No. 000 263 25 14
(secondary gear wheel), remain unchanged;
- regarding the gearboxes with serial no. lower than 10:9268, in case of the eventual need to replace the 4th
gear wheel, we do recommend to install the new pair of gear wheels.
• Concerning the S5-680 gearboxes, in the former version, the constant gear No. 001 263 01 10 (ZF 1290 395
053) is not any more supplied as spare part, being now supplied in replacement of the same, the assy No. 000
260 04 08 (ZF 1290 295 027) made out the gear (ZF 1290 395 300) and the washer (ZF 1290 395 299). If it
becomes necessary to replace the constant gear (ZF 1290 395 300), do install the new assy.
• The S5-680 gearbox, in the new version, is now installed in OF 1318 vehicles too, as of chassis final no.
...087895 in replacement of the gearbox G 3/60.

INTERCHANGEABILITY
The S5-680 gearbox in the former version (No. 384 260 83 00) and in the new version (No. 384 260 93 00), are
interchangeable, provided that the whole unit is considered.
