I had the pleasure of working with Sangram Karande from August through December
2021 while he was the Sustainability Manager at Goodwill Industries of Michiana. My
position as Manager of Sustainability at Goodwill Industries International (GII) requires
me to interface with the 155 local Goodwills that make up our network. Sangram
immediately stood out from the many people I have met since I joined GII due to his
exceptional talent and ambition.

Sangram is tapped in to the global sustainability dialogue. He follows the latest

technological developments and recycling markets, he regularly attends webinars and
conferences, and he stays on top of the latest reports and policies. He not only has a solid
science-based understanding of social and environmental issues but also the vision for
creating solutions to make a positive impact. On top of that, he has the ability to root his
ideas in reality by considering budgets, operational capabilities, and realistic timelines.

I observed that Sangram appeared to go above and beyond in his role. He was extremely
generous with his research and sought to make an impact not only at his own Goodwill
but across the network. He was an active participant in sustainability-focused group
meetings, consistently offering unique insights and asking thoughtful questions. He is
also humble, and would always demonstrate an openness to feedback on how to do things
better.

I look forward to seeing where Sangram takes his talents next, and I am confident that he
will make a positive impact on any team or academic program he joins. His enthusiasm
and thirst for learning is inspiring, and I only wish we had had more time to work

Sangram’s value to Goodwill has been huge as a Sustainability Manager. He has an aptitude for research

known him both as a hard-working college student at the University of South Florida,
