Development Goal)
MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT
GOAL ( MDG )
 Established following the Millenium Summit held
from September 6-8, 2000 at UNHQ in New York
by the 189 Member States of the Millennium
Declaration.

 Commitments to reduce poverty, hunger, ill-


health, gender inequality, lack of education,
lack of access to clean water and environmental
degradation.

 Developed countries contribute through trade,


development assistance, debt relief, access to
essential medicines and technology transfer
Guiding Principles are…

 Correctinginequities, bridging the gaps


between rich and poor countries, between
rich and poor people within the countries,
and between men and women.
Eight Goals
Goal 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education
Goal 3: Promote gender equality and empower
women
Goal 4: Reduce child mortality
Goal 5: Improve maternal health
Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other
disease.
Goal 7: Ensure environmental sustainability.
Goal 8: Develop a global partnership for
development

1. Reduce Maternal and Child mortality
2. Reduce Morbidity and Mortality from
tuberculosis and malaria
3. Reduce prevalence of HIV/AIDS

 Localities shall be prepared for the emerging


disease trends, as well as the prevention and
control of non-communicable diseases.
 Organization of Community health teams
(CHT)
 Another effort will be the provision of
necessary services which includes:
- family planning
- ante-natal care/maternity/pregnancy care
- delivery in health facilities
- newborn care
- Garantisadong Pambata package.
 Bettercoordination among government
agencies such as:
- DOH
- DepEd
- DSWD
- DILG
would also be essential for the achievement
of these MDGs which surely create a
substantial impact on improving the health of
many Filipinos.

Development Summit September 25–
27, 2015 in New York, USA by 193
countries of UN
The new Goals and targets will come
into effect on 1 January 2016 and
will guide the decisions we take over
the next fifteen years
Description and Agenda
The Official Agenda for Sustainable
Development adopted on 25
September 2015 has 92 paragraphs,
with the 59th paragraph describes
the 17 Sustainable Development
Goals and its associated 169 targets.
