Part I

Question 1

You are required to collect 30 data through a questionnaire survey. The data should consist
of 15 male and 15 female respondents. The following information should be included in the
survey:
1. Last 4 digit of MyKad number
2. Gender (male or female)
3. Height (in cm)
4. Weight (in kg)
5. Type of car owned (local, imported or none)

(a) List the data obtained from the above survey.

(2 marks)
(b) Construct a frequency and relative frequency table of type of car owned for each
gender.
(4 marks)
(c) Based on your answer in (b), construct a clustered bar chart of type of car owned
based on gender. You may use EXCEL to generate the bar chart.
(4 marks)
(d) Based on your answer in (b) and (c), write a brief comparison of type of car owned
between male and female.
(4 marks)
(e) Construct the frequency, relative frequency and cumulative frequency table for the
height using the smallest weight as the first class lower limit and class width of 10.
Include also the value of mid-point for each class.
(5 marks)
(f) Based on the table in (e), plot the histogram and polygon in the one chart. You may
use EXCEL to generate the histogram and polygon.
(5 marks)
(g) Based on the chart in (f), describe the skewness of height of the respondents. Justify
your answer.

(a) Calculate the mean weight for each gender.

(b) Determine the median weight for each gender.

(c) Calculate the standard deviation of the weight for each gender.

(d) Calculate the coefficient of variation of weight for each gender.
(4 marks)
(e) Based on your answer in (d), write a brief summary comparison of weight variation
between male and female.
