HYDRAULIC INTERACTION

This information describes the electrical system and hydrau-

lic system interaction for the various hydraulic functions of the
vehicle.
Caution
Static Condition means the operator is in position with key Pressurized Hydraulic
on and no hydraulic functions being requested. This condi- Accumulator
tion is necessary before any hydraulic functions will operate.
• DTS in the drive position supplying current to KYS.
• KYS is cycled to on supplying power to the display and
MRC1. EDS1 and EDS2 closed allowing ED to ener-
gize.
• ED-A closes supplying current to the P1 contact. ED-B
closes supplying current to ECS.
• ECS in platform position supplies current to DMSL and
DMSR.
• With the operator in position, DMSL and DMSR are
closed completing the current path to RAS1 and LOS1.
• The operators hands must be in position on the grips to
provide proper input signals from RHS and LHS.
• Since P1 is not energized to start the pump motor and
SV1 is not energized, the check valves will keep hy-
draulic oil from flowing back to the reservoir maintaining
platform height.

Platform Raise occurs when static conditions are met and • Check valve 2, under hydraulic pressure unseats, how-

button. flow to the reservoir.
• RAS1 closes providing a current path to RCS.
• When platform is not at the raise cutout position, RCS
will be closed completing the current path to P1 contactor
coil.
Caution
• When the controller does not have any restrictions or
Pressurized Hydraulic
service conditions preventing raise (e.g. controller fail-
Accumulator
ure, battery charger plugged in etc.), the controller will
close the current path to battery negative, energizing P1
coil.
• With P1 coil energized, contact P1 closes completing
the current path to the pump motor.
• The pump motor starts to turn the pump and begins to
produce pressure.
• Hydraulic pressure then unseats check valve 1 and flow
continues through the velocity fuse and to the cylinder
• The cylinder extends and the platform raises.
• When the platform reaches 510 mm (20 in) of lift height,
as detected by HTS20, the raise function will stop
unless GOSL and GOSR are open and GCSL and
GCSR are closed indicating the platform gates are fully
closed.
• If the pressure in the hydraulic system exceed the
setting of RV1, the port of the valve is forced open and
relieves the pressure by dumping to the reservoir.
When the pressure drops, the valve closes.

• LOS1 closes providing current path to CHSL and CHSR. crease caused by this sudden change is dampened by
• MRC1 controller providing current path to FLMCS, the accumulator.
RLMCS, RRMCS and FRMCS.
• When the lift chain is not slack, CHSL and CHSR are
closed and allow current flow.
• When the controller does not have any restrictions or Caution
service conditions preventing lower (e.g. controller Pressurized Hydraulic
failure, vehicle monitoring switches open etc.), the Accumulator
controller will close the current path to battery negative,
energizing SV1.
• When SV1 is energized, the valve moves and replaces
the check valve with free flow.
• Hydraulic pressure from the weight of the platform on
the cylinder keeps check valve 1 seated. This pressure
does unseat check valve 2 allowing flow to SV1.
• Since the check valve in SV1 was replaced with free
flow, flow continues to the flow control valve and on to
the reservoir.
• The flow control valve limits the hydraulic flow to provide
a controlled decent of the platform.
• If a hose were to break, bypassing the flow control
valve, the high volume flow through the velocity fuse at
the cylinder will move the valve from free flow to flow
block thus preventing uncontrolled decent.
