I. Profile
Name: Adoni C. Celendro Address: Blk 27 Lot 7 Carissa Homes 1A San Jose Del Monte
Bulacan City
Sex: Male Age: 47
Where did you work: I work as Oiler in a shipping ship
How many years did you work in this country? I do not have any staying country because
we are usually in the ocean and only transferring and shipping in different specified countries.
However, I can answer it by how long I have been working as an OFW, and I’m in the service for
greater than 15 years now.
How long have you been abroad? As of now, I am currently in the ship and my contract
months will be 10 months and can be change over time.

Question # 1: Why did you choose to become a Seafarer or an OFW?

To be honest, major goals of all OFW people is to earn money for their family and I am
the same as them. I choose to become a OFW (Overseas Filipino Work) because the salary and
compensation is greater than in the work in the Philippines. Also, in abroad there are more
opportunities and job.
Question # 2: It is hard to become an OFW?
Yes, being an OFW is really hard mentally, physically, and socially especially to us
parents. Sometimes I experience stress due to home sick because I miss my family and being
alone here in the work. Here in our kind of work is full of determination, confidence, and
courage because we are battling and sailing in the middle of the ocean for us to go to our specific
destination that is very hard because of unexpected typhoons, strong waves, and loaded of work.
