ROTC stands for Reserve Officers Training Corps. The main purpose of ROTC programs today is
to train young men and women to become an officers in military. And after graduation the
students that are participating in ROTC can immediately begin serving in the military as an
officers. In imposing the ROTC, I’m not agree in it, because it can only waste the time of the
students especially in their academic performance and also because of its disadvantages that
the students may encounter during their training. Additional fees for the students in buying
their uniform for military training. Staying at school more than school hours, instead that the
students must do another requirements in their respective subjects, and that’s one of reasons
why they can’t do it and pass it within the deadline because they are busy for their training.
Students may experience stress on it, because they allotted their time in their training instead
that they are in their house to rest and relax their mind. In times of exam and they’ve been in
their training they have no time to study because they are already exhausted to scan their
notes. Moreover, the students cannot focused in their study because they may think about
their training, if they can’t cope with it, they maybe get a low grade for the subject ROTC. And
how about for the students that have a heart problem or the students that can experiences a
problem. It is okay if it is not compulsory, because some students may want to focus in their
specialization and some are not favoured to have that subject ROTC and they may think that
they cannot benefit in it, because they don’t want to work in outdoor. It may useless for the
students that the courses that they choose is not closely related to that subject. Instead they
may focused their mind in their specialization course. And what will happen if some students
are not interested to that training, Is there a possibility.

the ROTC program will inculcate patriotism, nationalism, and discipline among the youth.
Through military training, it is also possible for individuals to improve their morale, intellect,
social skills, and involvement in public and civic activities.I disagree with the implementation of
ROTC in the K-12 curriculum as a senior high school student. It's just an addition of our burden.
Imposing the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) can only waste students' time, especially in
terms of their academic performance and also because of the drawbacks that students can
experience during their training. Some students may want to concentrate on their specialization
and some are not encouraged to have the ROTC subject and may feel they will not gain from it.
It will be seen by students as a pointless subject for the courses they select that are not closely
connected to that subject. Instead, they should concentrate their minds on their specialization
course. The department know that it is difficult for the senior high school students to conduct
all the tasks in accordance with the DepEd program. It is quite exhausting to introduce another
subject from the regular

schedule of senior high school that is clearly not important for the students to understand. And
even if the DepEd will reduce the activities of the senior high school and concentrate more on
this, they do not have any guarantee that this ROTC implementation will be effective, thus only
sacrificing students' years of learning. With the recent cases of violence brought to students by
people in higher positions, and if ROTC is introduced again, a number of individuals will
encounter hardship and this will only raise the record. If the program is enforced, the interests
of many students will be affected. Officials said that in order to teach discipline and nationalism,
they would introduce ROTC. But it was only because of the ROTC that there were cases of
hazing and violence.

Understanding the potential benefits of ROTC in senior high school can help students realize the
importance of such programs in shaping their overall growth and development. The inclusion of
ROTC as one of the subjects for senior high school can provide students with valuable life skills
and character development. It offers opportunities for leadership, discipline, teamwork, and
physical fitness, which are essential in preparing students for the challenges they may face in
their future careers or endeavors. It was concluded that most Filipino parents favored
implementing the compulsory ROTC in senior high school as the benefits that students and the
country would derive outweigh the issues or oppositions against the proposed program.
