Tensioning of flat belt

Insert flat belt (pos. 1) into the conveyor according to sketch with untightened
screws (pos. 3, 5) at the top tensioning bracket (pos. 2). The coarse structured
belt side must point towards the centre of the drive pulley (pos. 11).

If no ready-made flat belt is available, you will have to apply a continuous marking
at the flat belt ends (pos. 1) across both flat belt strands.

Endless length marking

Insert the flat belt ends into the punching device so that the marking is centred
in the punching device.

Carry out punching and welding according to welding instructions.

Clamp the contact extensometer CI-1 00078664 onto the slackened returning
belt strand.

Push the two clamping parts of the extensometer fully together and set
the drag indicator to zero.

Tension the flat belt by turning tightening screw (pos. 4) to the right and locking
screw nut (pos. 7) until a tension of 0.6 % is achieved on the belt.

Secure the tightening screw by means of lock nut (pos. 6).

Tighten fixing screws (pos. 5, 3) on tensioning bracket (pos. 2) again.

Adjusting of belt run

Adjust the belt run on return pulley (pos. 12) by loosening screw (pos. 8) and
turning adjusting screw (pos. 9) so that the belt runs centred on the drive pulley.
Depending on the running behaviour of the belt, the adjusting screw (pos. 9) must
be arranged either to the right or to the left of the fixing screw (pos. 8).
Lock adjusting screw by means of screw nut (pos. 10).

Slackening of flat belt

Loosen fixing screws (pos. 3, 5) and lock nut (pos. 6).

Loosen tightening screw (pos. 4) by turning it to the left and simultaneously locking
screw nut (pos. 7) until tensioning bracket (pos. 2) is in top position.

Re-tensioning of flat belt

See "Tensioning of belt".

It must be ensured during each additional tensioning procedure that the flat belt
maintains a sustained expansion due to its relaxation behaviour after the first placing.

The belt must thus be tensioned to 0.5% instead of 0.6%.

repeat the procedure.

Please note:
After a run-in phase of about 4 hours, the tension should be checked and
the v-belts should be retensioned, if necessary.

Belt tension check

Belt

Belt

Procedure

When the belt is untensioned, mark it at a distance of e.g. 1000 mm.

The bigger this distance, the more accurate the check will be!

Measure distance between marks. With a correct belt tension of 0.3% pretension,
the measuring result should be 1003 mm. (4 m ---> 4012 mm)

The pretension value can be greater than 0.3% for very long conveyor sections.
