HISTORY OF IFUGAO TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE, INCORORATED

In May 18, 1950 The 1st Son Name Mr. Alejandro Calderon Cleofas was born on this date. The son of
Mr. Felix G. Cleofas from San Jose, Nueva Ecija and Mrs. Leonida Calderon Cleofas from Talavera,
Nueva Ecija. This couple immigrated in Mallig, Isabela, the birthplace of Alejandro Cleofas. He finished
his Elementary Education in Mallig Isabela. He took his Secondary Education as working student in
Roxas Memorial Industrial High School. After his graduation in 1968, He went to Manila to find a job.
But Unluckily he did not succeed in his dream to pursue his studies, as the years pass by his grandfather
Mr. Mauro Bautista took him to Pinto, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao. He Stayed with them there he met Ms.
Carmen Ogano a public school teaacher at Pinto Elementary School at that time. He married her and they
resided in Caragasan, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao. As the years past, He was elected as Barangay Captain in the
year 1983, In 1986, He was elected as Sanguniang Member in this Municipality to 1992. Being a
Sanguniang Member for six years he had been looking forward of what he can do to help those students
from Rural Areas, Who can not afford to continue their studies. He thought of building a Vocational
School suited for poor students. He consulted his long time friend Mr. Johnny Langbayan, the owner of
the land and luckily Mr. Johnny Langbayan offered the land to him. So, immediately Mr.Alejandro
Cleofas put up a small shop called ALECAR metal craft. He had worked for four years in this shop.
In the year 2000, Mr. Alejandro Cleofas still thinking of puttng up a Vocational School. He
remembered his son Marloue O. Cleofas, who was working in the Foreign Exchange in Manila. Marloue
Cleofas, remembered his professor in St. Mary’s University who told to his students that anybody of you
is planning to put up a business, just tell me I’m willing to help you. The best business that you can open
is a school, I can support you how start a business. So, Mr. Alejandro Cleofas with his son Marloue
Cleofas went to SMU to present the plan with the SMU Research Center personnel’s. It did not took
many days, the research personnel's headed by PHD Ella Tumaneng, Engineer Charles Quirol, PHD John
Plina, PHD E. Acosta, PHD Hedy Lumanlan, PHD Nena Valdez PHD Henry Navarro came to Alfonso
Lista to see the place. They furnished survey questionnaire to be distributed to all school youth concerned
and to neighboring schools nearby. To determine the viability of putting up a vocational school, Luckily
the result of the survey was satisfactory. So, Mr. Alejandro Cleofas was inspired to pursue his dream, He
went with his wife Mrs. Carmen Cleofas to SMU Research Center to finalized everything needed. They
had paid php 50,000 for the preparation of the feasibility study and application of the school. During the
2nd visit of the SMU Research Staff, they had presented the draft of the feasibility study for finalization.
Mr Johnny Langbayan was then invited for the final negotiation regarding his land. He agreed to be a co-
partner. He allowed his land to be his counterpart. Mr. Alejandro Cleofas will be in charge in putting up
the school building. Both of them had signed a contract regarding this agreement. After, of this Mr.
Alejandro Cleofas went to Provincial Office of TESDA Lagawe to inform them his plan in putting up a
vocational School. One of the TESDA Personnel Madam Nenet Coro gave him the checklist to be
accomplished as a requirement of the TESDA. Since Mr. Alejandro Cleofas can not do all the works at
the time accomplishing many requirements, he had decided to overseas call to his daughter Maryjane C.
Cleofas teaching at Caritas School in Macau, to come home and help his father. But because Maryjane
told to his husband Alex Calanno will be the one to come home to help in working for the documents
needed. We conducted the Board of Trustees for final agreement, Mr. Johnny Langbayan suggested the
name of school, IFUGAO TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE, INCORPORATED. So, Mr. Alex Calanno
had started the presentation of the documents to be registered to the SEC. It took him almost three
months. Through the help of the President of SMU Rev. Father Jess Hechanova CICM. I.T.I.I was duly
registered to the SEC Security Exchange Commission. Reg. No. CN 200308494 dated April 18,2003.
BIR no.004-048-884. Upon the approval of the pertinent documents, we begun to put up the school

building. Through the help of our Almighty Lord it was all finished. The blessing of the school was done
on June 15, 2003. SMU Research Staff headed by. Father Jeff Hechanova conducted the blessing. Cutting
of the ribbon by the Provincial TESDA representative Hon. Glen Murphy and all concern people of
Alfonso Lista came to witness the blessing of the school.
