Chapter III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the procedures that the researchers undergone in the conduct

of this study. This includes the following: research design, respondents and locale of the

study, sampling technique, data gathering instruments and data gathering procedures.

Research Design

This study will utilize descriptive-correlational method of research to determine

the relationship of Class Performance Tasks and Anxiety of Senior High School students

of Talisay Integrated School in SY 2022-2023. In this study, it describes the level of

Class Performance Tasks of Senior High School Learners in terms of Role Play, Oral

Recitation, and Reporting and the student’s level of Anxiety in terms of Social and

Academic. Moreover, it will determine whether there is a relationship between the Class

Performance Tasks and Anxiety of Senior High School students of Talisay Integrated

School. The data on the Class Performance Tasks of Student's will be assessed based on

questionnaire that was given within the School Year 2022-2023 and Student’s Anxiety

Level was also taken based on questionnaire.

Respondents of the Study

In this study, the research participants are fifty (50) students of Senior High

School of Talisay Integrated School and were randomly selected by the researchers. The

table below showed the distribution of respondents per track and strand:

Locale of the Study

The study was conducted around the vicinity of Talisay Integrated School,

Barangay Talisay, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.

Research Instruments

The research instrument used in this study was the researcher-made

questionnaires. The survey form has two purposes, to determine the level of Class

Performance Tasks and the Student’s level of Anxiety. In the questionnaire, the

participants must answer the following question with regards to their moral, spiritual,

social, academic and also to their self, family, and community.

Data Gathering Procedures

15
These procedures were done through a series of process that the researchers made

to utilize and came to their conclusions. The most important thing to conduct this kind of

study is to get the approval and permission of the School Principal, Madam Arlen T.

Apacicle, Principal-I, together with her assistant principal Madam Marilou M. Centina.

After getting the approval, the researchers made a questionnaire. Then, the questionnaire

was validated by the three expert teachers of Talisay Integrated School namely, Mrs.

Sheryl C. Tesoro, Mrs. Lucille C. Otañes, Mr. Raymart H. Agana to identify if there is

incorrect in the questionnaire or if it is precise. After the validation, the researchers had

chosen their respondents through random sampling. Before the questionnaire was given,

the researchers read first the letter to the respondents asking for their permission to

participate in the research study. Before the respondents started to answer the

questionnaire, the researchers explained first the content of the questionnaire and the

directions on how to properly accomplish it. Then respondents were now ready to answer

the questionnaire. After that, the questionnaire were gathered by the researchers ready for

tabulation and statistics.

Statistical Treatment
16
To evaluate the level of Student's Class Performance, weighted mean was used.

The total rating was described by using the Likert’s scale.

2 1.81-2.60 Low The Student's Class Performance is low

To evaluate the Student's Level of Anxiety , weighted mean was used. The total

rating was described by using the Likert’s scale.

Finally, to answer sub-problem 3, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation

Coefficient (r) was utilized to determine if there is a relationship between the Class

17
Performance Tasks of Student's and the Student’s Level of Anxiety in Talisay Integrated

School. To interpret the correlation value (r) that will be given in the study the following

classification was adopted from Calmorin (1995).

Range Interpretation
An r from±0.00 to±0.20 denotes negligible correlation
An r from±0.21 to±0.40 denotes low or slight relationship
An r from±0.41 to±0.70 denotes mark relationship
An r from±0.71 to±0.90 denotes high relationship
An r from±0.91 to±0.99 denotes very high relationship
An r from±1.oo denotes perfect correlation

The hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance.
