Research Design

This study used descriptive – correlational research method. The student


related factors and social network related factors used descriptive method; on the
other hand correlation was used to find out which of the independent variables effect
the academic performance of the senior high school students of Infant Jesus School of
Bukidnon Inc.

Research Locale

The study was conduct in the high school department of Infant Jesus School of
Bukidnon Inc., Valencia City, Bukidnon. It is situated at the heart of the City of
Golden Harvest specifically at Sayre Highway Poblacion, Valencia City Bukidnon.
The school composed of two departments namely elementary, and high school
department.

Population and Sample

The focus of this study is the senior high school students who were officially
enrolled at Infant Jesus School of Bukidnon Inc. for the school year 2022-2023.
Stratified random sampling was utilized in this study. The number of respondents was
decided by the utilization of Slovin’s equation.

Research Instrument

The study made used of a self made Social Network usage test with the table
of specification to measure the student’s social network usage. This social network
usage test composed of 20 items.

This study also used set of Instruments which were adapted from the study of
Osharive Peter (Social Network and Academic Performance of students in University
Lagos). The first set of questionnaire was utilized for the (1) Use of Social Network.
The Second set of instrument is (2) Exposure of Students. The third is (3) Students
Addictiveness. This instrument is composed of (20) items.
Scoring Procedure

In scoring the responses of the respondents in terms of use of social network,


the following numerical values with its corresponding description are assigned.

Statistical Treatment

In determining the status of social network usage of the senior high school
students of Infant Jesus School of Bukidnon, in terms of use of social network that
was stated in problem 1, descriptive statistics such as mean values were used.

In problem 2, the exposure of students, also made used of descriptive statistics


such as mean values.
In determining the addictiveness of the students of Infant Jesus School of
Bukidnon that was stated in problem 3, descriptive statistics such as mean values were
used.

Ethical Consideration

The researchers will be sure that ethical procedure in the conduct of the
research will be observed. Permission from the principal of the High School
Department and consent from the respondents we will sought first before the conduct
of the study. Respondents will be fully informed on the purposes of the study and the
possible risks involved in the conduct of the study. The researchers will encourage the
respondents to participate in the study but we will not pressured them to do so if they
would refuse to.

Thus, all the respondents who will answered the questionnaires will participate
in the study voluntarily. Privacy and confidentiality of personal information of the
respondents will be properly monitored by the researchers and will make sure that no
personal information from the respondents will be exposed. No records in the study
will be forged and falsified. To guarantee originality of study, the researchers will
submitted their manuscript for plagiarism check. To come up with a quality and
ethically bound study, all these ethical concerns will be avoided and all ethical
procedures will be observed by the researchers.
