REFLECTION PAPER

Basketball is a sport that has been popular for many years and is played all over
the world. As a student of this institution, I believe it is important to understand the basics
of basketball, as it can not only improve one's physical health but also enhance social
skills. Warming up before playing basketball is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, it helps
to prepare the body for physical activity by increasing blood flow to the muscles and
raising the body's core temperature. This can help to reduce the risk of injury and improve
performance by increasing flexibility, agility, and reaction time. Furthermore, warming up
can help to prevent muscle soreness and stiffness after the game. When the body is
warmed up, it is better able to handle the physical demands of basketball, which can help
to reduce muscle damage and promote faster recovery after the game. Some exercises
we’ve been taught before the basics of basketball are: wrap-around, ball touch, sprinting,
ball between the legs (8 figure), shoulder/hip/knee level dribbling, and etc. It was taught
to us that the game of basketball is played with two teams, each consisting of five players,
on a rectangular court. The objective of the game is to score points by shooting the ball
through the opposing team's hoop. The team with the most points at the end of the game
is declared the winner. There are also rules and regulations inside the court and those
are the fouls, not allowed passes or inbounds, line stepping, dribbling rules, physical
contacts, and many more. By knowing the rules to abide, you are eligible to play and you
can be a better player with a lot of room to improve because you already know the basics
and essentials. Failures and hardships makes you stronger, practice basketball everyday.
